Georg: Portrait Session with Dark Background
One of my first professional portrait shoots with my first proper crop-sensor DSLR, photographed in a homemade studio after I had bought an external speedlight and some black fabric for a background.

Looking at it years later, I would probably add a second light behind the subject to create a bit of separation from the background. I’m also pretty sure that’s what Mr Tirul, who later taught me photography at Polytechnic School, would say.
At the time, though, the way the figure gradually disappears into the black worked well with the mood I wanted for the portrait.
