Untitled Self-Portrait with Shadow
Unlike some of my other photographs, it wasn't built around a single visual idea. Instead, I was simply exploring the kind of surreal atmosphere I had come to admire in the paintings of René Magritte.

A few months later, I noticed the photograph being shared by a Facebook page alongside a quote by Ibn al-Qayyim comparing the world to a shadow. I hadn't created the image with that interpretation in mind, but I liked that it had found one of its own.
